If you're able to bolt the dish to the wall & align it yourself then
you could get hi-def BBC with a DVB-S card. I can appreciate that if
you need a Sky installer it would be a wasted expense if you plan to
move house in the near future. I was planning on getting an installer
in, but have just been given a Sky dish via my local freecycle, so
figure I might as well have a go at DIY.

A DVB-S card will allow you to record hi-def BBC and all the other
free-to-air channels on satellite. You _may_ be able to record Sky
using an appropriate 3rd-part CAM card, but even if you prefer to use
the Sky box a 4-way LNB will allow you to use the disk for that & for
MythTV at the same time.
