That's great news, hopefully it proceeds quickly.

The person proposing the new API is from Intel,  that's another great
thing.  Intel's newer integrated GPUs have excellent video
capabilities.  With Intel leading the way, and their open source Linux
drivers, video on Linux could really benefit.
