[mythtv-users] Slightly OT: 2.6 Upgrade

I have successfully upgraded by Redhat 9 system with a generic vanilla 
2.6.20.1 kernel so that I can use DVB drivers for my HD cards on this 
system.  I'm curious if anyone else has been in this position and if 
there is a way that I can now point to an apt-get or yum repository to 
upgrade the other components on my system (MySQL, etc.) easily or if I 
should just stick with compiling things myself.
