Which brings the thread full circle.

I had pretty random results when doing a full scan and inputting the 
details of Crystal Palace transmitter - using a channels.conf import 
gave me all the channels but EPG data was missing.

I also ended up with at least two sets of channels (when checked with 
mythweb) - at least half of which without xmlids.  Deleting the ones 
without xmlids resulted in no TV at all.  Manually entering the xmlids 
into the channels without ids and deleting those with ids mostly worked 
but life is too short to spend a load of hours doing that.

If I can't set up DVB systematically and in a repeatable fashion then 
I'm going to have just do without that fucntionality in Myth.
