Not really.  What you're missing is that the CRT sets have become  
cheap and shoddy, as well.  I had a 19" RCA set back in the 90s that  
went bad shortly after the warranty period.  It would repeatedly  
develop bad solder joints.  Eventually I gave up on it.  The CRTs  
themselves have gotten cheap, too; they start to lose brightness  
after only a few years, now.  Planned obsolescence at its finest.
