Most likely, it's an issue with OpenGL.  I would either try to fix
opengl by recompiling your drivers (nvidia) or switch to the QT
painter by starting mythfrontend like this: "mythfrontend -O
ThemePainter=QT"

I'd recommend fixing OpenGL.
