If indeed we can nail down that there's a notable percentage of people
who can't talk to, say, Supernews et al, then yeah... and of course, we
could *provide* alternative approaches to retrieve data, with lesser
timeliness... but I really think we need to treat NNTP as a target
primary dissemination mechanism, to support the main goals of such a
project.

I don't *want* us to need to have "n+1 master servers" which are
required to be knowledgeable about our specific protocol.  I really
think we need to be planning to leverage as much standing
infrastructure as possible.
