minimyth is a prebuilt linux/myth distribution that doesn't require a
hard disk.  It's hardware requirements are here:

It was originally designed for the EPIA mini-itx motherboards which
can make a pretty good (small and quiet) frontend, provided you don't
need them to display High Def.  Watch out for the newer boards though,
because their hardware video decoders aren't supported in linux.  I've
been running an EPIA M10000 successfully for quite a while.
