[mythtv-users] problems ripping dual-layer DVDs

Recently (althought I believe I've had this issue before) whenever I rip
discs using 'mtd' it appears to only rip the first layer of a dual layer
disc. So, if I attempt to watch the disc (or the ISO I created during
the rip), when the layer transistion occurs the playback will fail.

At least I assume that is what is going on. The most recent ISOs I have
created are all of dual layer discs but the ISO created was less than
5G. They all fail at some point during the middle of playback with an
error like 'Cannot read NAV packet'. Inspecting the actual ISO will
reveal that the VOB file it is looking for will be missing.

Now, in the past, I have used mtd to rip dual layer discs without issue.
Is this likely to be a drive issue or a software issue? Is there a way
to determine, for certain, that it is one or the other?

The myth I am running is very recent trunk.
