[mythtv-users] Thank You to the Devs

I have been wanting to post a big Thank You myself, now that the 2007 NHL
Play-offs have passed. This is my first season using Myth for my annual
hockey over-loading, and now I am forever corrupted. Along the way I learned
to use more or Myth's features, necessity being the great auntie of
discovery. And then... I stopped watching Live TV. Once I got into delaying
my gratification and letting a game record for a half-hour or more, I started
doing that to the news, and now everything else.

Unless out of desperation or when I can't or don't care, I will never again
watch anything of significance without some Myth box firewalling me from the
massive inanity that is omnipresent in even the best commercial television:
commercials repeated ad nauseum, intros and extros that consume easily 10% of
a broadcast, graphic filler, banal content dressed up with sparkles,
content-free commentary. Nope, with Myth I can skip it all, zip right through
it, carving out the bits I want and saving myself a whole lot of time in the
process.

This is the first year watching the playoffs when I haven't come to hate
whatever Canadian Tire commercial ran seemingly twice in every commercial
break. Between comm-flagging and the Skip 30 seconds button I am blissfully
unaware of what I should covet today. I could even live through NBC's
generally-insipid between-periods segments, with their 50% commercial content
and really not a lot of useful game commentary.

I used to read the "Myth sux at LiveTv" threads, with people defending how
once you get it, you get it, and LiveTV is no big deal anymore. I vaguely
understood at the time.

But now I get it...

Thanks people!
