Thought I'd try thisn out for the football last night i.e. something
where imperfect playback stands out like a sore thumb.

Results - couldn't be better. For the first time I've had perfect BBC
HD playback at 1080i using mythtv.

As I'm using dvi at 1080i to my hd tv, with a small patch to maintain
field synchronisation for the display, the picture quality is
identical to that from my set top box (I was on the bbc trial).

I'm using an E6600, 1 GB RAM, Nvidia 7600gs,  Samsung LE32something,
mythtv-vid branch with the directshow patch applied.

So thanks for the pointers - now that I've got it working properly,
it's renewed my interest in getting it fixed properly.
