[mythtv-users] Errors when compiling from source

I did a bit more digging and discovered that, after running "make
install", files like mythbackend are never copied out of the build
directories. I also found that running "./configure" results in a
config.err file. I assume this is a configuration error, although I
do not receive any messages to the console that anything went wrong.
The file is huge, but towards the end of this is this text:

check_cc
BEGIN /home/myth/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-32501-22167-26877.c
     1  asm (".align 3");
END /home/myth/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-32501-22167-26877.c
gcc -O3 -Wall -Wno-switch -c -o /home/myth/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-1152-22167-7271.o /ho
me/myth/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-32501-22167-26877.c
/home/myth/tmp/cc8q2Cl6.s: Assembler messages:
/home/myth/tmp/cc8q2Cl6.s:3: Error: alignment not a power of 2

Is this normal or does this help?
