A possible solution might be if myth made available a signal that the
particular box was in use. For example, for a serial IR blaster, toggle
a spare output signal that could be used to light up a LED, indicating
the box was busy and for any user to leave the channel changer alone. If
the LED is out, the box is free - although this still leaves the problem
of what happens when an upcoming recording kicks in - perhaps flash the
LED for the five minutes beforehand?
Alternatively, just hide the remote for that box ;)
