What do you mean by a normal shutdown?  You have to enable shutdown on
idle in mythtv-setup.  Then when mythtv detects that it is idle it
first runs the shutdown script that you configure and then issues the
halt command.

If you have wakeup working from the command line then use that command
as the shutdown script.  You have to configure the pattern for the
time parameter that gets inserted.
