Is there any mysql optimisation I can do to improve this or is it another
threading issue where the scheduling is done by the recording thread or
something equally daft.

I regularly run optimise_mythdb and the db appears to have updated
correctly during the last 2 years of SVN updates so the extra indexes etc
introduced a few months ago should all be active (is there a way to check
this?).

The db is on a raid1 array that shares a disk with the raid5 array that
stores the recordings (i.e. one partition of the drives is part of the
raid1, another partition a part of the raid5). Is there anything that
could be optimised here?

Cheers
