I did a full ubuntu workstation install on my mythbox as it gets used
for other things too.
But I've also installed openbox and configured the login session for my
myth user to use openbox instead of Gnome and start irexec, mythwelcome
and other things as needed automatically. Simple (the mythuser is
autologged after a delay), fast and works well.
When I want a full desktop access I logout and back in as a regular
user (or same mythuser but with a Gnome session). Also I've installed
the freenx server on it, so for real work and maintenance I usually
remote connect to the box from a computer upstairs (better monitor than
my TV!) rather than in the living-room.
