[mythtv-users] 9XXX Nvidia Drivers Ignore My Modeline!

I had a chance to go back and reinstall the 9746
drivers to see what was going on and here's the
relevant lines from xorg.0.log:

(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce
FX 5200 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0):     PIO PDA-5002 (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): PIO PDA-5002 (DFP-0): 135.0 MHz
maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): PIO PDA-5002 (DFP-0): Internal Single
Link TMDS
(II) NVIDIA(0): Assigned Display Device: DFP-0
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "Pioneer
503/PDA5002 1280x768"; removing.
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to validate any modes; falling
back to the default mode
(WW) NVIDIA(0):     "nvidia-auto-select".
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(II) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(0):     "nvidia-auto-select"
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be
1024 x 768
(--) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (23, 31); computed from
"UseEdidDpi" X config
(--) NVIDIA(0):     option
(--) Depth 24 pixmap format is 32 bpp

So it seems that the nvidia drivers are trying to
validate my modeline and are failing. This modeline
has worked for me for years with the older drivers, so
I thought maybe I could force the drivers to use it by
putting Option "UseEDID" "false" in the screen section
of my xorg.conf. Well, that was even worse, giving me
a 640x480 resolution and the following in xorg.0.log:

(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce
FX 5200 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0):     DFP-0
(--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-0: 135.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): DFP-0: Internal Single Link TMDS
(II) NVIDIA(0): Assigned Display Device: DFP-0
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "Pioneer
503/PDA5002 1280x768"; removing.
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to validate any modes; falling
back to the default mode
(WW) NVIDIA(0):     "nvidia-auto-select".
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(II) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(0):     "nvidia-auto-select"
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be
640 x 480
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to get display device DFP-0's
EDID; cannot compute DPI
(WW) NVIDIA(0):     from DFP-0's EDID.
(==) NVIDIA(0): DPI set to (75, 75); computed from
built-in default
(--) Depth 24 pixmap format is 32 bpp

I didn't have any more ideas, so I dropped back to
8776 again for now. It would be nice to hear from any
Pioneer 503CMX plasma users who are running 9XXX
drivers. Is there a better modeline for my plasma
that I don't know about? Does anyone have any other
suggestions for forcing the drivers to use a known
working modeline?

Thanks,
Nick F
