Hi guys,

I posted a few weeks back about a problem I was having with video
playback tearing on SD recordings on my Chaintech 7NIF2 motherboard w/
the onboard GeForce video adapter.

I was able to (temporarily, at least) solve those problems by switching
back to a 7xxx version of the driver (from Gentoo's latest 8776), and
ran on that for about a week. Since then, I've been working on trying
to get HD video to playback well on my Athlon XP 1800+ w/ 512MB of RAM
(32MB shared to the onboard video) w/ XvMC (this is reasonable isn't it?).

So I've got MythTV (& mplayer for testing) configured for XvMC, and I'm
reasonably sure all of that's correct. Unfortunately, I've been messing
with this for hours and hours. Hopefully, I'm just missing something
simple, b/c I have reason to believe that this hardware should at least
be minimally capable of playing back at least 720p HD, possibly even
1080i or p. Actually, I have a friend who has very similar hardware (w/
a 2500+ and 1GB of RAM I think) and he's able to playback even 1080p now
I think w/ very few if any problems.

Here're the primary symptoms I keep seeing over and over across 7xxx,
8xxx & 9xxx series drivers w/ all kinds of various options, etc.
(remember, I've been at this for over a week):

Once I start HD w/ XvMC, I get these errors in Xorg.0.log:

(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 10, 0x8000, 0x0000a428, 0x0000a428, 0)
(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 10, 0x8000, 0x0000a464, 0x0000a464, 0)
(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 4, 0x8000, 0x0000a4a0, 0x0000a4a0, 0)
(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 4, 0x8000, 0x0000a4b8, 0x0000a4b8, 0)

(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 4, 0x8000, 0x0000ba2c, 0x0000ba2c, 0)

whenever things start to get crappy, *and* the other symptom that
reliably comes up is that the playback part of the screen will go blue.
If it's SD 4:3 stuff, the whole screen is blue and if it's widescreen
HD, only the widescreen part will be blue. Also, once it's gone blue,
the video playback for *anything* (including regular old SD stuff), all
video playback seems to become hosed and I have to reboot to get SD
playback back. Very frustrating.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on w/ this? It's frankly
driving me nuts. I appreciate any leads you can give me.
