I've been using a StreamZap USB IR receiver with a One For All universal
remote that I taught grey Hauppauge codes from the remote that came with
my old PVR-350 card. Since the serial IR receivers are cheaper (and don't
come with the StreamZap remote that you likely don't want), this probably
won't be of much help. Anyhow, just in case, here's my LIRC config:
