I'm having a few problems with my mythtv setup and I'm looking for a little
help.
First, I can't seem to get live TV to play properly. That's not to say that
my WinTV PVR-250 isn't working. I can re-direct output from /dev/video into
a file and play it just fine under mplayer (/dev/video > /tmp/video ;
mplayer /tmp/video) - it just doesn't play directly as live tv under mythtv.
Second, I tried encoding a DVD as a "perfect" image. It seemed to work just
fine, but when I played it back the audio was skipping all over the place.
I copied the vob file over to my main desktop (a dual-core Pentium D w/2G
RAM) and it played just fine, so its not the vob file. Is there any sort of
tuning that I can do to improve the playback performance?
Third, in an attempt to working around the transcoded image problem
mentioned above, I tried making an ISO image for playback. About 1/4 of the
way into ripping, the mtd rip progress screen just closes and returns back
to the main rip menu. Looking through the logs, I'm getting a TON of buffer
I/O errors coming from my DVD drive. I've used this DVD drive for a few
years, so its possible that its going bad, but it seems rather out of the
blue. Has anyone else run into similar situations?
I've got the following system configuration for my backend:
Ubuntu 6.10
Athlon XP 2200+
1GB DDR3200
2x80G HDD
1x160G HDD
WinTV PVR-250
GeForce FX5200
