 No, at the moment all work has been in using the mythprotocol and in using the upnp support in the backend to access /set database settings. It's all in
test stages at this moment. Eventually I'd like to see all meta data access done this was as well using standardized metadata classes and all of the actually database access done on the backend.   So no need to configure mysql to listen for outside connections, less complexity for users.

 Whether or not the code on the backend is written to work on any generic SQL server is something I'm not particularly worried about at this point.
