I have a machine right now having the exact same problem. I've tossed
CPU, drivers, ram, etc at the problem, to no avail.

The box is using an 5200 AGP using SVideo out. No matter what I do, it
stutters on the audio, and the CPU as at 90-100%. I've tried XvMC,
"extra buffer", old and new drivers, etc.

I've played with every VSync setting I can (because I think that's the
problem) and nothing seems to affect it. BoB/One-Field etc, no diff.

agp=off on boot, verified 8x, verified NVAGP, etc.

Interestingly SD content, for the most part, is ok. Just HD content
trips all over itself.

I'm about to lose my sanity on this box.. Hpoe someone else has a good
idea or two.
