Check /var/log/myth/mythbackend.log - and look for complaints about
"for data to become available". That could indicate contention, either
on the ethernet bus, CPU, or disk. That can slow flagging way down.

Just as a point of reference, here's average FPS rates for a couple
machines. All are for HD content, either 720p or 1080i. These are
average frame rates, taken from start/end times in backend logs, over
the last couple weeks. Keep in mind things like recordings, local
playback, etc, can add to your times, since these processes by default
run at the lowest (or highest nice value) priority.

Time taken to flag 1h of HD content:
Athlon XP, 2.65ghz (also a frontend): average time, about an hour
(1h35m, 1h1m, 1h24m, 0h58m, 1h7m, 0h59m, 1h1m, 1h6m, 0h58m )
Athlon XP, 2.0ghz : average time, about 1.5 hours (1h43m, 1h27m,
1h37m, 1h21m, 1h31m, 1h35m, 1h39m)
