I suspect you're mistaken about what the MythDVD ripper "normally does." It 
can rip individual tracks and/or the whole DVD. Ordinarily, the first "track" 
it can rip is for the whole DVD, and the remainder of tracks are the 
individual elements (the main movie, bonus interviews, etc.).

FWIW, another way to get the whole DVD is to use dd:

dd if=/dev/dvd of=file.iso

The result is a file (file.iso) that MythDVD can play.

One caveat about all of this: Some people have reported that a few DVDs exist 
that can't be easily ripped via MythDVD. Apparently they incorporate bad 
sectors or other copy-protection techniques that throw off simple DVD-ripping 
software. There was some discussion of workarounds (mostly involving Windows 
software) a week or two ago, so search the archives.
