Done.

2) Make sure your LIRC modules are loaded ('modprobe lirc_i2c' if
> using the PVR card's IR)

Done

3) What LIRC devices do you have when the modules are loaded? ( ls -l
> /dev/lirc* )

[root at mythbox ~]# ls /dev/lir*
/dev/lircd

4) Do you have a lirc.rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d?
Here  it is:
KERNEL=="lirc[0-9]*",   NAME="lirc%n"
KERNEL=="lirc0",                SYMLINK="lirc"

5) Do you see any udev errors when the LIRC modules are loaded?

lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61

from dmesg |grep lirc
