[mythtv-users] MythTV hangs

I don't think you need to run mythtv-setup on a frontend only machine?
 (I could be wrong though)

Is your network otherwise OK.  ie you can transfer files across it
without lockups (I've had a bed network cards cause lockups as soon as
network activity ramps up)

Do other X-apps run normally on the frontend?

Is your frontend getting as far as talking to the backend?  ie What do
the mysql and mythbackend logs on the backend say when you try to
start the frontend?

Can you ssh or telnet into the frontend from the backend. when it's
hung, to see what's happening?  If so is there any information in the
frontend or xorg log (If Ubuntu uses xorg?)

Is your mysql.txt file on the frontend correct for the backend?
