Given that you are based in Australia, a new wiki page giving Oz
specific info would likely be of great interest.

You have not listed what hardware you are using, nor what actual
problems you have encountered. In order for those on the list to
actually help, we do need to know what you have tried.

Have you attempted to follow the Myth documentation?

Have you attempted to follow, for example, Jarod Wilson's guide
(wilsonet.com)?
Each of those effectively gives a step by step recipe for successful
completion of the install. Not all of it will be directly relevant to
your situation, but all of it is relevant to an understanding of how the
pieces of this jigsaw puzzle fit together.
Have you tried a specialist distro such as mythdora? It preconfigures a
lot of the steps in the recipe. And I understand it does a great job of
recognizing your hardware.

Yes Mythtv does exist. Yes it does work. I have had a working system for
about two and half years now. So, there is no reason that you should
not be able to install myth and make it work on any reasonable hardware
except for your ignorance. Ignorant in its proper meaning: does not
know. Not as an insult or pejorative.

I strongly suspect, on the (minimal) information you have provided that
you are generally a windows user and a linux newbie. If so, then (to mix
metaphors) you *are* no longer in Kansas...No wonder you feel lost. It
took me about 9 months to start to feel comfortable in linux and I had
been using OS/2 for over 11 years when I first tried an install of
mepis. If you are a windows gui/desktop full-time user, then a command
line console is a bit of a shock, which you have to get over. All of the
things which windows hides from you, you have to do or understand
yourself. In a way, it's 'Welcome to swim class. This is the deep end.
Jump in. The lesson will continue at the shallow end...'.

Now what exactly have you done and what exactly has failed?

Geoff
