Hi Steve,

I tried that route but gave up quickly.  I suggest using one of the 
integrated distributions.  I used Mythdora <http://g-ding.tv/> which 
worked almost "out of the box" including installing the Australian guide 
grabber. It still required some effort to get it fully operational. The 
usual minor, frustrating, problems that recur in this list particularly 
with the remote.

I tried Mythbuntu <http://www.mythbuntu.com/> the other day and it 
really did work immediately after I installed it. However, this was not 
a fair comparison because it was only a front end.
