No, I'm fairly certain it doesn't. That, along with the cheaper
scaler, are the two shortcomings with this unit's upconversion. I
have no doubt the Denon has a better implementation.
I have it set to output 720p I believe, since I'm using a 42" LCD with
a native res of 1368x768. If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't do any
scaling all all for sources that match that resolution, so I have my
cable box to output the same along with my Myth box. If I could have
it NOT upscale the Wii (480p), but still pass it out through the HDMI,
that would be ideal. Otherwise I would just deal with the extra
component cable going up the wall and only use it as an HDMI switcher.
For that matter, and this is veering more off-topic, I have noticed
that my Comcast cable box has a downright terrible scaler. I have it
set to output 720p over component and the digital basic channels looks
like crap (lots of blockiness). The output from Myth of same channel
recordings, using XV and the new fancy GreedyH deinterlacer in SVN,
looks much improved. Too bad the wife insists on watching anything
live through the cablebox :)
