There's a specific mechanism in xscreensaver for programs to tell it  
to bug off.  I assume that's what Myth uses.

AFAIK MythTV doesn't mess with the DPMS settings.  I'd suggest  
disabling them in your Xorg configuration, though, then you know they  
won't get turned back on.
