[mythtv-users] Comcast Philadelphia Digital Cable with DCH3200 via Firewire - Success!

Just a note to the list that might help others.

I previously had been using MythTV with Comcast Analog cable, and
recently added an HDHomeRun box that allowed me to access a handful of
HD channels without upgrading my Comcast Basic Cable service. This
worked quite well. Today, I "upgraded" my service with the intent of
adding only a sports HD package. That required that I pick up a
Motorola DCH-3200 box from my local Comcast store.

The first important thing I learned is that my monthly bill will
actually go down for a year, and then (hopefully) return to the previous
rate. Go figure! Second, the sports package includes HBO and a sizable
number of other channels that I've yet to identify - there a a bunch.
Third, and most important, I integrated the box right into my
MythBackend server via a firewire connection, and following the
instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV_Firewire. It almost could not
have been easier. FYI, I found the "Broadcast" connection to be more
reliable than the P2P connection.

Hope this helps.
