There are two common "component" systems.

Component outputs from computers are usually Red, Green, Blue, H- 
sync, and V-sync.  I think SCART also works this way.  Sometimes the  
sync signals are combined into the green signal for a 3-wire hookup  
("sync-on-green").  Some old Sun workstation monitors use four wires,  
R, G, B, and a combined horizontal and vertical sync signal.

Modern DVD players and such usually have YPbPr component outputs.   
This is Luma, Blue minus Luma, and Red minus Luma.  Green is inferred  
from the other signals.
