That should not work as you are almost gauranteed that the drive will
use space in between 200G and 300G and also the filesystem will still
think it is 300G. You will have to resize the partition before the
move with dd. If your filesystem is ext3 or reiserfs you can do a
shrink otherwise its better to copy the data.
