I will try the prepackaged route next time around, to see how my
system behaves, but thanks for the info about CentOS! I had heard of
it but didn't know much beyond the name, and that it was derived from
Red Hat. Maybe I could give that one a try at work, on one of my
desktop machines...  :-)
