Yep.  And look at CD's, DVD's, USB flash drives, and floppy drives for
completely different meanings of "kB", "MB", "GB".

Because the "de facto" standard leads to confusion; whereas an SI/IEC
standard actually specifies a meaning.  It's just too bad no one ever
reads the standard (so we're all still confused about what everyone else
is saying).  :)
