I just recently installed CentOS on a new machine to migrate my mythtv to
from an older FC4 install. I had a couple reasons for doing this (bought a
new TV w/VGA input so I don't need the PVR-350's output anymore; I've been
running a bit of a hack to remove the extra 0's from the Schedules Direct
data as I didn't have a good clean upgrade path to 0.20.2). I pretty much
followed Jarod's guide when I did the FC4 install and that's what I went
back to for the CentOS install. For the most part, it's the same thing.
Probably the biggest difference is the atrpms repository for el5 is at a
different URL than Fedora so I had to go hunting for a different
/etc/yum.repos.d/atrpms.repo. There were also a few of RPM's I had to
download manually (PIL, libFLAC8, perl-XML-Twig)... a couple of these had
dependencies that weren't loaded in my initial install but I could install
those using yum (tk, perl-XML-Parser, atrpms). Outside of those, as I recall
it was pretty much the same thing.
