[mythtv-users] Busy CPU

I've got a machine running Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn and I've installed
the mythtv packages via Synaptic. A couple minor tweaks were necessary,
but now it's running, and I'm picking up a few OTA digital stations (I'm
in the US).

The backend so far looks good.

But the frontend is pegging the CPU... top is sometimes reporting it
using 100% of the cpu. The video and audio are usable, but occasional
and brief video hangs and audio dropouts are experienced. When I stop
the frontend and play a recorded program via mplayer, it plays fine.
Watching a high-def recording with mplayer (off NBC station with network
programming, should be 1080i I think, and the video quality is great),
mplayer's using about 80% of the CPU.

Shouldn't my video card be doing more of the work? See specs:

Intel P4 3.2 GHz (with HT)
Intel D865GBF motherboard
pcHDTV HD-3000
GeForce FX 5200, 256 MB, AGP 8x
1 GB RAM
300 GB Seagate Barracuda hard drive
Antec Overture II case
Samsung LCD display (sadly 1280x1024 max)
