Yes, you need subversions (svn) installed. If you type 'svn --help' at a
command line and get nothing, you don't have svn installed.

Not necessarily either. SVN sometimes breaks things because patches are
made to fix other problems. Scanning is one such 'broke it here, by
fixing it there' issue.

Damn straight. If you do not know the difference, then do not play with
SVN. You will break your system and the WAF will go straight down the
tube...

From scratch. In another area, using prefix=/usr/local
