Just for the sake of completeness, I figured I would post the solution
to this part of the problem I was having with mythbackend.
Because I removed and re-added the capture cards within Mythtv-setup
(something I didn't need to do since the problem turned out to be
related to the serial port on the computer), the default input
connection was reset to "Tuner 1". I have three set top boxes connected
to my backend, all of which are connected via the s-video interface.
Although I had the right settings in the "input connections window", the
cards (under "Capture Cards") were individually set to default to "Tuner
1", which, on startup, caused the error (not a critical error, but an
error none-the-less) as shown above.
I fixed it by setting the default input to "S-Video 1". :)
