[mythtv-users] quiting out of a game

I'm guessing that this is a FAQ as I cannot be the first to wonder about this, 
but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.  

When playing a game in say ZSNES through mythgame how do I quit the game?  
from a keyboard, I just press Escape, but pressing the remote key assigned to 
Escape on my remote does not work?

    prog = irxevent
    button = Menu
    config = Key Escape CurrentWindow
end

Does this work better if you let Myth use lirc directly rather then using 
irxevent?  I started using irxevent before I realized that myth can do it 
directly and just haven't switched yet.
