[mythtv-users] 2.6.20 kernel and HD performance?

Hi all -
Here's the hardware I'm running:
AMD Turion-64 4000+, Asus K8N-E mobo, 2GB RAM, 2 x pcHDTV 5500 tuners,
NVidia 6200 AGP video card.
Due to problems with sound (went to 5.1, was using old ALSA drivers, which
didn't cut it), I upgraded my Myth setup from Mandriva 2006 to 2007, along
with the latest Myth RPMs from PLF (I believe they correspond to 0.20a svn
version 13114 or thereabouts?). Anyway, I have most things working, but
can't get HD playback right - it's jerky, with lots of dropped frames
(though interestingly, no "prebuffering pauses" in the logs).
Under 2006, I was running an early (rc5) version of Linus' 2.6.18 kernel
(2.6.18rc5) with the FC5 patches for 2.6.17 from pcHDTV.com. I got nice,
smooth HD playback with no problems - WITHOUT XvMC.
Under 2007, I've tried (1) their stock kernel (2.6.17-5), (2) their newest
multimedia kernel (2.6.17-14mm) and Linus' kernel 2.6.20 from kernel.org.
Most of the sound issues are fixed (these use Alsa 1.0.13 or 1.0.14rc1
(2.6.20)) but I can't get the HD performance issue fixed.
When I compiled 2.6.20, I used CONFIG_HZ=300 (which has been recommended)
- slightly better, but not much. I have heard that there is someone
("C.K.") working on Myth-specific tweaks for that kernel; I've yet to find
the sources for these. Does anyone else know of any settings or patches
to use with 2.6.20 that will get me my nice, smooth HD performance back?
Can I use the pcHDTV.com patches for 2.6.17 on 2.6.20?
Thanks...Bob
