And that was the culprit.  After recompiling mythplugins package, all my
troubles went away.  Looks like even though it saw my libdecss and
seemed happy with it, it wasn't using it properly.  Lesson here is leave
well enough alone if the library works instead of trying to keep current
on a single user, non internet facing appliance :-)
