I tried what you have shown in the above, yet it still will not let me 
access mysql...???
I get this: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user  
'larry'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Yes I did change the default from 'mythtv' too 'larry'...Should I try to 
change it back or not..???
