is mythbackend in the /etc/rc.d/init.d directory the mythbackend binary or
a script? If it's a script. you have have to add a
export HOME=/root
in order for it to find the /root/.mythtv directory. I've had issues
when scripts
are started from cron or init where the path and enviornment variables are
not set like that are from a standard login and things break because of that.
I have to manually set my HOME variable in the script before doing some
things.....
