Wow... this seems to be one of those things that just are way to
complicated.  Maybe a simplification of the way myth interacts with
alsa and an easier configuration for this stuff would be nice.  AC3
passthrough comes up all the time and everyone always seems to
struggle with it in some fashion... even with the great wiki and
knowledge that's been learned over the past year or two with SPDIF
output, this topic comes up way to frequently.  IMHO of course.
