In my experience, the ivtv drivers do best at 480x480, 640x480, and 
(best of all at) 720x480.  So, the one overlapping resolution is 720x480 
(and that happens to be the resolution I use).

If your recordings are actually coming out at 480x480 even though the 
card is being told to use 352x480, it's a driver problem (or possibly a 
constraint on the hardware).  So, you'll probably get the best 
information from the ivtv mailing list.
