[mythtv-users] connection timeout (frontend won't talk to backend on same system)

myth is able to connect to the MySQL database. It just will not
recognize that the backend is running on 127.0.0.1 OR my local IP. doing
an nmap 127.0.0.1 or an nmap -p 6543 127.0.0.1 shows that 6543(tcp) is
closed...but iptablse is off (/etc/init.d/iptables stop).
I was able to get rid of the 'Failed to find network interface eth0'
error message, but still no success.
the data in the mythconverg database, settings table is correct.
