The PVR-500 essentially has the hardware of two PVR-150 cards combined
into one PCB.

So, on the coaxial side, there's actually two tuner chips, that both
receive the same signal coming in. It acts essentially as a splitter,
there each tuner then tunes in the frequency that it really wants to
listen to. The downside of this approach is that you will essentially get
a 3.5dB loss (the signal loss of a splitter) because of the built-in
splitter. (A co-worker of mine who has actually built such a device notes
that it may be less or may be worse than 3.5dB, depending on how well it
was designed, and what parts are used.)

If you're not using the tuner portion, then there is one set of A/V inputs
on the back of the card, and you can buy a backplate that contains a
second set of A/V inputs from Hauppauge, if it's not already included with
your PVR-500 (for mine, they weren't).
