Some broken transparent proxies are broken in that they don't properly
handle TCP window scaling.

TCP window scaling is a TCP feature which is often required to get
respectible bandwidth on high latency high bandwidth links.

What happens is if you have a broken transparent proxy in the middle,
each side of the TCP connection thinks it was a different window size
and the result is a very slow or broken connection.
