last night it happened right after a '/etc/init.d/mythbackend restart'. I restarted it from an
ssh session on my desktop machine and by the time I went to the living room (5 steps) it
had already exited.

Without knowing anything about the code and/or drivers, the error message seems to me
like it would be coming from a myth-driver interaction. However, I did my install following
Jarod's guide (MythTVology) and using Axel's ATRPMs repositories. The only difference is that
I did a custom selection of the packages to be installed on the initial OS install and I unchecked
as many unneeded packages as I could (however, I did let the install fullfil all its dependancies).
